Why Circuit de Barcelona is chosen as the test track ?

We all know shakedown happens before the season starts that is pre-season testing.
Right now we have the circuit de Barcelona Catalunya as the shakedown center. There is always wonderment of why particularly Barcelona circuit has to be test track while there are so many? __ The answer comes in many forms depending on the challenges track provides, logistics of the team and weather conditions of the city . __ Primarily, we will discuss the characteristics of the circuit being more important in choosing them as a test track. yes, level of challenges and complexities, the track provides to experiment. Barcelona circuit has a combination of all __ high-speed corners, slow speed corners to experience cornering abilities, __ chicanes - to experience the impact of ground forces in cornering and particularly unelevated chicane of the circuit opens a wide window to analyze the aerodynamics of the car, __ high elevation change to challenge power units, __ long and short straights to achieve maximum possible downforce. Yes, Barcelona provides all such features where a car can be completely tuned to match performance levels of the most circuits in the calendar. The suitable track is chosen from time to time to meet the timely demands of testing.

Secondarily, the most convincing factor is the logistics of the team and car to the test
facility. Barcelona , Spain being center of all Racing team Headquarters(HQ) ensures teams spend optimum travel time to the destination. also, optimum cost spent in travel .
__ Later , the weather , testing happens in the month of February , that is near the end of winter and start of the spring. It is either snowing too much on the left and shinning hotter on the right. Barca has optimum weather which is of neither extremes. possibility of wet conditions also let teams to experiment the car in worse conditions. Vamos, corramos. __ We will see what happens on shakedown in next post.

How does drag Reduction system (DRS) function in a Formula 1 car ?

  What does adjusting flaps do? Adjusting the flap breaks the operation of the main plate of the rear wing and flaps together as a single unit. This improves the speed of the car by 10-15kmph by reducing the downforce (depends on design) and drag ( 5%). How does it reduce downforce and drag? As we see in the image, when the flap is deployed, airflow over the wing is broken and separated. This creates a condition of the wake that reduces the effectiveness of the wing, much of the air escapes the gap between the main plate and flap, thereby reducing downforce and consequent drag of the car. As downforce and drag is reduced, the car lightens thereby increasing top speed by 10-15 kmph.
